Event Introduction
Have you ever wondered why agarwood is one of the world's most precious aromatic woods?
Join Pearlita and thirdspace.studio for an intimate two-hour experience exploring Chinese tea and incense traditions through stories, scent and hands-on discovery.
We begin with Gongfu Cha, a traditional Chinese approach to tea preparation and appreciation. Through multiple infusions, discover how the aroma, flavour and character of tea unfold.
From tea, we enter the fascinating world of agarwood.
Discover how this extraordinary aromatic wood forms, why it is so valuable, and it's cultural significance throughout Chinese history, including the traditional beliefs and practices surrounding its use.
Through a guided sensory exploration, you'll experience agarwood powders from different regions, gently heated on an electric incense burner. Notice their subtle aromatic differences, and discover which scents resonate with you.
To close the afternoon, you'll experience Zuan incense, learning to shape powdered incense into beautiful patterns before lighting them together.
A chance to discover something new, engage your senses and enjoy these traditions at a slower pace.
No prior knowledge or experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity.
