Event Introduction
Some stories are steeped in a cup of tea. Others linger in the aroma of a shared meal.
Jerusalem is an old city where three religions meet, but also where borders, memories, and histories overlap in everyday life. The scent of falafel and hummus drifts through ancient alleyways, while beyond the market's vibrant rhythm, invisible lines continue to shape how people move, gather, and belong.
During the fieldwork in Palestine since 2018, H witnessed a defining historical moment: the relocation of the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, as Israel's Independence Day coincided with the Palestinian Nakba. Through encounters around kitchen tables, beneath towering walls, and on the edges of conflict, she invites us into stories that rarely make the headlines—stories of ordinary people carrying memory, loss, resilience, and hope.
More than a talk about Palestine, this gathering is an invitation to reflect on our own journeys. What does "home" mean when we live far from where we began? How do food, memory, and shared stories help us carry belonging across borders?
Simple Palestinian snacks will be served, and you are warmly invited to bring a taste of your own home, or a small object that holds a sense of belonging. Together, we will share food, stories, and the places we continue to carry within us.
