This project aims to show the socio-political situation in Hong Kong by using rabbits inspired by Richard Adams’ classic novel “Watership Down”. By examining the struggle for autonomy, resistance against oppressive

forces, and the quest for a safe, carefree and self-governing home. We can gain a deeper understanding of both the real-world scenario and the fictional narrative.

Rabbits, with their vulnerable, yet tenacious nature, embody the essence of freedom, unity and the fight for survival. This duality is mirrored in the spirit of the Hong Kong protests, where ordinary citizens, much like the lagomorphs, face overwhelming odds with faith and determination, demonstrating remarkable courage and solidarity in their pursuit of justice and autonomy.

The Hong Kong protests, like the journey of the rabbits in Watership Down, represent a fight for autonomy and survival against overwhelming odds. By drawing these connections, I seek to highlight the timeless and global nature of these struggles. Also their courage and hope amidst adversity.
